About

While I enjoy working with adults with various anxiety and mood related issues, and have a broad professional background, I have expertise in the areas of interpersonal conflict; identity; troubled eating; and body focussed distress.

Engaging in research that provides information and insight on how to understand and help mental distress is important to me.

I care deeply about anti-discriminatory practice, and spent my doctorate researching the nuanced meanings encoded in the troubled eating and bodies of queer people with eating disorders.

My commitment to recognising the impact of violence; oppression; and ostracism, includes attending to the often-obscured stories of resistance in therapy.

Professional Experience

In addition to having been in private practice since 2020, I have extensive experience in other settings.

I’ve worked in local NHS eating disorder services as a therapist; Clinical Lead; and Principal Psychological Therapist, for the last thirteen years.

During this time, I’ve also trained therapists with the University of Exeter; and provided psychodynamic psychotherapy with the Bristol Complex Psychological Intervention NHS mental health service.

Prior to this, I worked as a therapist for a charity, seeing people with OCD; PTSD; depression; panic; health, and social anxiety.

My career began as a mental health nurse, working with in-patient, community, A&E, and early psychosis teams. My last position was as Clinical Nurse Consultant.
